Well, I hope I find you well.

This is my new blog for tutoring. I've been tutoring and teaching for many years. Just never had a blog for it before. I hope we can share some of our experience with each other.

The reason I decided to start the blog is quite practical. I need to let people know that I am now tutoring in these parts. My first tutoring was in 1971 in El Paso, Texas, when I tutored the children of my Vietnamese language teachers in music and English. Since then, I've added math, science, history and Chinese to my repertoire. I've also taught some too. I suppose you can check my resume and I'll post it on this site.

I've taught in America, in Vietnam and in China. I've taught in English and some in Chinese. I've worked with gifted students and with those that found the work very challenging. And I enjoy them both. But I learned quite early that I really don't like teaching students that don't want to learn.

When I first started college, I wanted to be a music professor. But after I got a close look at my professors at work, I found that much of their hardest work is with unmotivated students. I really couldn't do that. So, I chose another path. But I kept teaching when I could do it with interested students. And it has been fun.

My favorite subject is spoken Chinese. I'm beginning to tutor it with Wyzant.com. I hope I meet you soon.
Zaijian,
